
Evan Calvert
Evan Calvert’s practice focuses on the acquisition, sale, financing, and leasing of commercial real estate, particularly in distribution, manufacturing, office, and retail. Evan currently represents a large institutional investment management firm with a diverse portfolio of development projects in industrial, office, and retail properties, a real estate owner-operator and investment manager in connection with the development of a 1 million square foot industrial facility in Virginia, the redeveloper of a 3,500-acre former steel plant into a multi-modal distribution hub in Maryland, and a bank with over 60 branches across the nation in connection with commercial real estate loans.
Evan joined the firm in July 2015 after working from 2010 to 2015 as an associate in the nationally-ranked real estate group of Venable LLP’s Baltimore office. While at Venable, Evan represented various clients in connection with their real estate transactions, including lenders and special servicers in the modification of troubled loans, a major national poultry producer in the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of agricultural and industrial real estate projects, and a major national developer in the acquisition and financing of senior housing facilities.
While in law school, Evan served as a judicial intern to Judge Peter J. Messitte in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
Evan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, where he played varsity lacrosse for four years. In 2010, Evan received his Juris Doctorate from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C., where he was an Articles Editor for the American University Law Review.
Evan is the founder and President of Bigfoot Endurance, a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for Parkinson’s research.
Evan is admitted to practice law in Maryland.
